Jemana Murti
Jemana Murti (b.1997) is an Indonesian-born artist based in Bali. His artistic practice originates from his interest in technology and his lived experiences and observations as a Balinese and the religious aspects of Bali. In 2022 and 2023, Jemana Murti took part in the National Gallery Singapore Benefit Auction and won bronze prize in the 2023 UOB Painting of The Year. Jemana Murti’s work is currently in private collections in Singapore, London, Indonesia, and Australia. Notably, his works are also featured at Louis Vuitton flagship store in Jakarta and Morgan Stanley Singapore.

The Divine Tree of Kalpataru is a depiction of a mythical tree from the Hindu and Buddhist mythology that grants any wish and gives life to all. It symbolizes divine power, fertility, and abundance and is seen as a source of benevolence, echoing the Indonesian cultural value of harmony with nature. This work is a depiction of the Kalpataru tree that comes from the future where things have aged but the values remain, ultimately sharing the same effect as carvings of the tree seen in Candi Borobudur and Candi Prambanan among others.

Swargaloka or Abode of Light is a concept found in Hindu and Buddhist mythology that denotes the celestial abode or heaven. It is described as a place of magnificent beauty, filled with exquisite gardens, palaces, and assembly halls where the gods and other celestial beings spend their time in leisure and devotion. The Swargaloka is also the place where the Kalpataru tree is said to grow along with other mythical trees.
