Signage Philosophy
Our signage and wayfinding elements embody the distinctive essence of our hotel. Designed by NUSAE, they draw inspiration from the Tentrem brand’s profound Javanese philosophy and exemplary service ethos. Rooted in the cultural and contextual richness, our concepts of ‘Unggah Ungguh’ and ‘Wadah’ reflect a profound sense of reverence and belonging.
The fundamental concept of this signage design reintroduces the essence and values of Central Javanese culture. This design highlights the principle of “unggah-ungguh,” a set of norms governing respectful speech and behavior in Javanese society, aimed at maintaining decorum and mutual respect. The visual character of this signage draws inspiration from inherent traits of these values.
In Javanese culture, particularly in Central Java, the term “wadah” signifies “nrimo” (acceptance). This reflects the Javanese philosophy of “Narimo ing Pandum,” which embodies a wholehearted acceptance of whatever life offers. The philosophy of “narimo ing pandum” encompasses three psychological constructs: acceptance, hospitality, and gratitude. When associated with the values of Hotel Tentrem’s service, it signifies welcoming guests with warmth and thankfulness.
